Carbon Brief is looking for someone with a keen interest in climate change and digital communications to help promote our written and visual content online.

§ Job description

Working closely with the whole of the Carbon Brief team and reporting to our Senior Digital Content Executive, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day delivery and promotion of Carbon Brief’s online content. 

This will involve uploading content to Carbon Brief’s website, managing our social media, assisting with newsletters and interacting with online audiences to build our following and boost engagement.

You’ll be adept at writing engaging social media content while preserving accuracy and nuance, and have experience organising social media content across multiple platforms. 

You’ll know how to identify where and why our articles and social media content perform well, and be able to communicate this to the team effectively. You’ll be a quick learner, with an excellent eye for detail and ideas for new ways to promote Carbon Brief content online.

Responsibilities

  • Upload Carbon Brief articles to our website.
  • Write social media content and manage a daily schedule across multiple platforms.
  • Promote Carbon Brief’s archive content, including capitalising on thematic days and topical events.
  • Actively monitor a range of social media platforms and keep the team updated about developing themes and discussions. 
  • Build social media communities, including engaging with and following accounts.
  • Assist with the delivery of Carbon Brief’s newsletters.
  • Monitor article engagement and assist with creating analytics reports.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience using a CMS, preferably WordPress.
  • Experience creating written content for social media, including composing tweets,  threads and Instagram and LinkedIn captions. 
  • Skilled at managing multiple social media channels.
  • Experience of analytics packages and creating bespoke reports.
  • A keen interest in digital communications and industry trends.

Desirable

  • Experience of email marketing and newsletters.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practice.
  • Experience or interest in the environmental sector.

Location: Carbon Brief’s office is in central London. For this particular role, we would prefer the successful candidate to be in a UK/Europe time zone. You may be expected to undertake some travel as part of your work.

Hours/Duration: This is a full-time permanent position.

Salary: £28,000 a year, dependent on experience. Generous benefits, including pension and group protection insurance.
