Carbon Brief is looking for someone with a keen interest in climate change and digital communications to help manage our written and visual online content.

§ Job description

Working closely with the rest of the Carbon Brief team and reporting to our Managing Editor, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day delivery and promotion of Carbon Brief’s online content.

This could range from social media management, to uploading content on Carbon Brief’s website and interacting with online audiences to build our following and boost engagement.

You’ll be adept at creating and organising social media content across multiple platforms, including copywriting and creating graphics. You’ll have experience with website management and ideas for new ways to promote Carbon Brief content online.

Responsibilities

  • Upload Carbon Brief articles to the website.
  • Source appropriate imagery for articles, in line with Carbon Brief’s editorial policy.
  • Create and schedule social media content across all platforms, working closely with the Senior Digital Content Executive and the Multimedia team.
  • Build and maintain social media communities (including engaging with and following accounts).
  • Promote Carbon Brief’s archive of article content, including sharing our ‘core articles’ and capitalising on thematic calendar days.
  • Monitor article engagement online (including social media comments and analytics).

Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience managing a CMS, preferably WordPress.
  • Experience creating content for social media, including graphics.
  • The ability to write engaging copy to a deadline.
  • Skilled at managing multiple social media channels.
  • Experience or interest in the environmental sector.
  • Creative, with a keen interest in digital communications.

Desirable

  • One years’ relevant experience in digital communications/marketing or other relevant role.
  • Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design software (e.g. Canva).
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS for web and email.

Location: Carbon Brief’s office is in central London. There is flexibility within this role to be based remotely, anywhere in the world, and the successful candidate will be comfortable working across different time zones. You may be expected to undertake some travel as part of your work.

Hours/Duration: This is a full-time permanent position.

Salary: £28,000 a year, dependent on experience. Generous benefits, including pension and group protection insurance.
